Meet the Team

Dr. Lindsey Hicks
Primary Investigator

Dr. Lindsey Hicks joined the faculty of Christopher Newport University in 2022 after receiving her PhD in Social Psychology from Florida State University. She is interested in understanding the factors that predict successful marriages, with specific interests in people’s evaluations of their romantic partners and strategies that spouses use to communicate in their relationships. Her research has been published in some of the top journals in psychology, including Psychological Science and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. When she is not conducting research or teaching classes in psychology, Dr. Hicks enjoys lifting weights, reading, and spending time with her husband, son, and their two dogs.

Camdyn Allen
Senior Research Assistant

Camdyn Allen is a senior at Christopher Newport University studying psychology, with minors in biology and leadership. After graduating from CNU, she hopes to attend graduate school to earn her doctorate in occupational therapy. Specifically, she hopes to one day work as a pediatric occupational therapist specializing in mental health. Camdyn has previously worked on other studies at CNU researching grief in healthcare settings. When she is not in class or conducting research with Dr. Hicks, Camdyn spends time volunteering at an elementary school, tutoring second-grade students in math. Furthermore, she spends her time shadowing in pediatric outpatient rehabilitation to
prepare for graduate school. Camdyn loves spending time with friends, going on walks, reading, and going to the beach.
